Freshen up the bean sprouts
(1) Bean sprouts will keep looking fresh for days if you add lime juice to bean sprouts that is being soaked in water. Just change the water everyday.
(2) To preserve the bean sprouts longer, soak them in water that been added with salt and keep in the refrigerator.

Boiled egg perfection
To boil eggs to perfection, with its beautifully rounded shape intact, boil the eggs until three-quarter way to being cooked. Put in the skin of shallots in the water and leave until the color of the skin fades. Re-boil the eggs until fully cooked.

Reducing bitter gourd's bitter taste
Cut the bitter gourd in to pieces and place it in a basin of water that has been added with fine salt. Leave for about 30 minutes. Now they're ready to be cooked, with the bitterness reduced.

Washing the vegetables off worms and other undesirables
Rinse off the vegetables in a jiffy to avoid wasting water. Then soak them completely in a  basin full of water that has been added with salt and a little vinegar. Leave for 15 - 20 minutes.  Whatever worms attached to the plants will get disengaged, so you can re-wash them easily and without wasting too much water when they're rinsed under the tap.

Retaining the natural green color of vegetables when cooked
Add a little sugar when cooking vegetables such as mustard, spinach and others.

Hot burning sensation from touching chili
(1) Smear a little coconut oil or salt around the affected area, then place it near fire (stove fire would do). The burning sensation will worsen for awhile before it tapers off and the pain disappears completely. Then wash the area  with soap and water.
(2) Rub with salt for 1 -2 minutes, then wash with plain water.
