Practical tips for computer use at home or the office

(1) Use a large and flat screen monitor.

(2) Most computer users don't know how important this is : Use anti-glare screen.

(3) To reduce glare:
(a) Place your monitor perpendicular to a window to reduce glare.
(b) adjust , or add blinds if you have to.
(c) reduce reflections.

(4) Place the top of the screen at or below eye level. Avoid shopping for computer tables that are too high, or computer chairs that are too low.

(5) Place your monitor screen 20 – 26 inches away from the eyes, enough to prevent leaning your head, neck or trunk forward or backward.

(6) Increase text size on the monitor screen so your eyes will not strain too much from reading online.

(7) Look far away, or at least 20 feet away, every 20 minutes of computer work to relax eye muscles. You can download a desktop alarm to help remind you of your breaks.

(8) Blink often to avoid dryness, and use eye lubricants, or apply the honey eye wash remedy.

(9) Avoid refocusing eyes constantly between screen and desk by placing your document on a document holder beside the monitor screen.

(10) Alternate between computer and non-computer work to give the eyes a break from the screen.

(11) Go for eye check-ups. If you use glasses, consider glare coating for the lenses, or use a pair that's specially designed for computer use.
